Stop waiting for the perfect time to lose weight

When I finally decided to lose weight (again) in 2010 my mama had told me that she started Weight Watchers and had lost like 20 pounds eating ice cream every day. I was like "sign me up!" So I used WW to lose 80 pounds over 18 months.

I remember thinking my kids were all in school, had extra curricular activities, I worked full time and I had no idea how I was gonna figure this out. But I was desperate to find something that worked. I would eat good all week and then hoard my points to "have a good weekend" and I white knuckled my way down the scale.

Fast forward 10 years and I had gained back 50 of the 80 pounds I had lost. I didn't really understand why it felt like I wasn't doing anything different but I had just fallen back into old habits.

I felt like shit and actually hated myself for feeling guilty that I gained the weight back.

The weekends and holidays felt hard because I didn't want to miss out on the enjoyment of food. What I didn't realize is that the food wasn't even the joy. It was the people and the experience. I was using food as a reason to feel happy. No wonder I was gaining my weight back.

WW didn't teach me how to keep the weight off. Just counting points and not helping me unwind the emotional eating that caused me to gain weight in the first place.

I hear this every single day from the women I work with. So let me ask you...how many times have you lost weight and then gained some, all, or even more back?

No guilt, no shame. Just the facts. It happens all the time because diets don't work. They are one way to reduce your calories in and you will lose weight. But most diets don't and can't help you change your relationship with food.

If I could have done one thing differently back then, I would have wanted to know that I could keep my weight off by doing just one little thing.

I can give myself credit for all the things I did well. I can give myself credit for celebrating me down the scale and not just at the goal weight. I can give myself credit for learning that my body felt better when I ate healthier. I can give myself credit for keeping off the 30 pounds that I kept off for all those years.

Today I know that I am not waiting until Monday to "start another diet" or that on the first of next month I will join the gym, or say f#%^ it until January 1st and then decide I want to make a change. Stop waiting for the circumstances to be perfect to start losing weight. Just start with the very next meal you eat. Just decide that you can start where you are, use what you have and do what you can.

Henry Ford said "Whether you think you can or think you can't, you are right."

If you think that it's not enough to just stop eating before you clean your plate or drink an extra glass of water each day, you are denying yourself some little habit changes that can help you lose weight.

Stop waiting for the time to be right to make a small change. You are probably sitting around thinking that you shouldn't have gained weight in the first place. Or you would have been more motivated in your 20's. You would have less to lose now if you hadn't gained so much in the last 5 years. That is not helpful thinking. Yes maybe the best time to start was 20 years ago, but the next best time is RIGHT 👏🏼 DAMN 👏🏼NOW.

So if you are ready to lose your weight, I want to help you! I want to show you that it can be easy to get started. You don't have to give up everything.

My goal is to help you lose your weight without dieting ever again!

If you could set a goal today of how much weight you wanted to lose in 30 days, what would you need to do each day to get closer to that goal?

Use my 3 step method to create

Alignment - what do you need to think, feel, and do to help you reach your goal?

Intention - what action will you do - on purpose to help you stay on track?

Momentum - How will you keep showing up day after day until you lose your weight?

That is the A.I.M. Method I have taught to hundreds of people just like you to help you start where you are, use what you have, and do what you can TODAY to start losing your weight once and for all!

If you feel stuck or overwhelmed the only cure for that is action. Decide what you can do today. Drink more water, eat a few bites less than yesterday, go to bed instead of doom scrolling on IG.

The steps that feel like they won't make a big impact...are the ones you can do that don't freak your brain out. Double down on those and see what changes in a week. Then do it again, and again. You need time to see the results.

But each day you get to be proud of yourself for showing up and doing the work. Give yourself some credit and you will feel less overwhelm!
